In our modern world animals seem to have more rights than certain kind of human beings. Perhaps a certain heathen element as animals were worshipped in some heathen cults. So the human beings are becoming more primitive again.
Oh, they are everywhere, the heathens. And the secular protagonists and their 'Catholic' fellow-travellers in the worlds of intellectual life and academia don't like the idea of 'civilisation', anyway; 'primitive' is just a pejorative label applied by elitist racist power-mad abusers to their victims.
