Pater. Ave.

Deus, omnium fidelium pastor et rector, famulum tuum Benedictum, quem pastorem Ecclesiae tuae praeesse voluisti, propitius respice: da ei, quaesumus, verbo et exemplo, quibus praeest, proficere: ut ad vitam, una cum grege sibi credito, perveniat sempiternam.  Per Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen.

VENI, Sancte Spiritus, reple tuorum corda fidelium, et tui amoris in eis ignem accende.

V. Emitte Spiritum tuum et creabuntur;
R. Et renovabis faciem terrae.

Amen.

"And yet, if you reverse the order of the adjectives, you get the progress of the sixties, perfectly delineated."

Watched Louis Malle's...

Au revoir les enfants to celebrate my birthday.  And it is a beautiful day.  Went out to early Mass, did my shopping and am now ready for the next fifty two years, I suppose.

Searched at IMDb the two principal actors, who seem to have had middlingly successful years since, the Jean Bonnet as much as a writer as an actor; Au revoir les enfants is notable also being one of two productions in the first year of Irène Jacob's film career.

Was everyone bonkers in Mr Carter's government?

I don't read at the Daily Beast--saw this interview noted at the Weekly Standard: surely it is well nigh unbelievable that Dr Brzezinski imagines that Mr Obama will order that Israeli jets, targeting the Iranian nuclear sites, be shot down.

Of Tuscan kale and prudence

Living here in Eugene, this struck a chord or two; from the Cranky Professor anent the First Lady shopping responsibly. I really do agree that locally produced stuff is generally better, and I'm all for the Chief Magistrate and his family doing us rhetorical goodness--but virtus in medio stat and all that.  Cranky Professor is well worth following, ha. He is reading Dante.
