Searched at IMDb the two principal actors, who seem to have had middlingly successful years since, the Jean Bonnet as much as a writer as an actor; Au revoir les enfants is notable also being one of two productions in the first year of Irène Jacob's film career.

I really do agree that locally produced stuff is generally better, and I'm all for the Chief Magistrate and his family doing us rhetorical goodness--but virtus in medio stat and all that. Cranky Professor is well worth following, ha. He is reading Dante.
